We’re a not-for-profit conservation organisation that protects threatened habitats in Paraguay through scientific research, environmental education and community outreach. We promote a responsible approach to reserve management where tourists contribute to social, scientific and conservation projects that are designed to have a positive impact on Paraguay. Through our multi-faceted approach to conservation, we have managed to raise the profile of the reserve on which we work. Thanks to our work, Reserva Natural Laguna Blanca has grown to become Paraguay's largest private eco-tourism destination, welcoming over 10,000 tourists to its beaches every summer. Our conservation team invests itself in the sustainable management of the reserve, while our scientific researchers ensure that our conservation practices are having the desired results. The backbone of our organization is our award-winning volunteer and intern program. Over the past five years, we have educated over 250 young scientists. Graduating interns have gone on to pursue Master's and PhD projects, to work for governments and zoos, as well as finding work at other research stations around the world. We are proud that our alumni are continuing our mission and making a global impact. Our local education program focuses on teaching environmental sciences to young students in one of Paraguay's poorest areas. Thanks to support from Rolex and the US Fish and Wildlife Service, we have been able to teach classes to over 2000 children across five different schools. Our volunteers frequently contribute to these lessons while finding their own way to contribute to our mission. Para La Tierra also hosts a community outreach and female empowerment program. It is a self-sustaining model in which local women are taught elements of entrepreneurship and given the opportunity to work to support their family. From the very first day, this has been one of PLT's most inspiring projects. #DoSomethingParaLaTierra
